Dr Elizabeth Yan Tsze Hill, non-executive director

Dr Hill has over 20 years' experience working in the technology sector, focussed mainly in the life sciences and healthcare sectors, which includes biotechnology, diagnostics, instrumentation, materials and the convergence of these technologies. Dr Hill started her career in instrumentation with Philips Scientific, and then moved into biotechnology, where she was involved in a successful IPO. She has held a number of non executive and executive directorships, including amongst others the Health Authority, appointed by the Secretary of State, and the TNO Audit Board for Infectious Diseases.

 

Currently Dr Hill is a CEO of a UK Biotech firm, a Director and shareholder of China Business Solutions, and shareholder of a technology investment fund. She has also been a mentor to the Centre for Entrepreneur Learning at Cambridge University. Her role with China Business Solutions is to advise on the growing opportunities in the technology markets in the EU and China.

 

Dr Hill graduated with first class honours in Chemistry and was awarded a PhD at King’s College, University of London. Dr Hill is a British-born Chinese and fluent in spoken Chinese (Cantonese).

Merrick Willis OBE, non-executive director

Merrick Willis had a long established career in the Army with key appointments as chief of staff of an armoured brigade, senior instructor at the Staff College, and command of an infantry battalion.  His second major career was in the NHS, where he was CEO of a NHS trust for nine years.  He then worked for a global executive search company, and carried out consultancy work in a number of business and public sector fields in the UK, Europe and Africa. He was for five years Chairman of Cambridgeshire Business Group, which included Business Link for Cambridgeshire and Cambridgeshire Enterprise Services, is a former Chairman of Cambridge City Primary Care Trust, and is Vice Chairman of Cambridgeshire Police Authority.

He is currently CEO of the UK's Civil Service Fund and also acts as a non-executive director of China Business Solutions. Merrick has lectured widely on leadership and team building and this is where he makes great contribution to the growth of China Business Solutions. He advises the company management on strategic and important HR issues, as well as acting as mentor to CBS staff.

 

His post-graduate studies included the Royal Military College of Science, the Army Staff College, and the Joint Service Defence College. 

 

 

Dr Paul Guest, non-executive director

 

Paul Guest is a Lecturer in Accounting and Finance in Cranfield School of Management.
He was previously at the Judge Business School, University of Cambridge where he has over 10 years teaching experience. He holds MPhil and PhD degrees from Cambridge University. His research interests include the determinants and effects of takeovers, and the impact of corporate governance on corporate performance. He is a Research Associate at the ESRC Centre for Business Research and his research has been presented at interenational conferences and pubished in leading international journals. He has also acted as a consultant to companies on valuation and merger issues.

 

Dr Guest is a Director and shareholder of China Business Solutions. His role with the company is mainly to advise on financial and accounting issues.
